Tavistock Beekeepers are currently running winter talks via Zoom but hope to return to live ‘in person’ talks to provide a forum for members to meet each other and discuss bee matters.

Sunday 19 May – Bee Tea – 1pm | Come and experience Colin Trier’s totally off-grid smallholding in a rural location near Tavistock, complete with clean compost toilet and filtered/UV rainwater. Guests are encouraged to bring along their clean bee suit and disposable gloves to participate in or observe some beekeeping at the host’s discretion. Sunday 9 June – Bee Tea – 2pm | Tony Herbert’s scientific and experimental approach to beekeeping will be on show at his off-grid out-apiary where his varroa tolerant bees thrive. You’ll see a variety of hives in use, including log, Warre, flow, standard as well as a traditional skep. Guests are encouraged to bring along their clean bee suit and disposable gloves to participate in or observe some beekeeping at the host’s discretion. Sunday 30 June – Bee Tea – 2pm | Justine Colton keeps bees in a range of different hive types and is one of the few local beekeepers who successfully keeps bees (and produces honey) in the high altitude and challenging weather conditions of Dartmoor.
