During the winter months we meet at the Parish Church Rooms, Tavistock PL19 9DA (see Google map below).  The rooms are separate from the church and are located across the Plymouth Road, next to the Bedford Hotel.

TUESDAY 7th Nov 2023- Lynfa Davies - Bee Behaviour.Lynfa Davies is a Master Beekeeper and holds a National Diploma in Beekeeping. As well as regularly writing articles for beekeeping magazines, she also teaches beekeeping courses with the Welsh Beekeeping Association and runs workshops at National conferences such as the BBKA Spring Convention, The Honey Show and BIBBA. WEDNESDAY 29th Nov 2023(AGM) Spots & Streamers - Hunting Asian Hornets in Jersey - Sarah Bunker.Sarah is the author of The Asian Hornet Handbook and is currently working on its second edition. She will share the latest knowledge on this invasive species which is likely to become a major problem for beekeepers in England from next year. She will be joined by our own Kate, Helen and Angus who accompanied her to Jersey in September to learn how to track the hornets and trace their nests.Zoom link - This will be sent to all members prior to the talk.

TUESDAY 9th Jan 2024 - Sarah Wyndham Lewis - Planting for our beesSarah Wyndham Lewis's bestselling book 'Planting for Honeybees' has just been joined by her newest title 'The Wild Bee Handbook.' As an ecologist she is deeply concerned not just with the lives of honeybees, but also their wild cousins, the bumblebees, solitary and stingless species which underpin biodiversity. TUESDAY 6th Feb 2024- Wally Shaw - The Role of Swarm Control in Beekeeping.Wally Shaw is a member of the Welsh Beekeepers Association and an extremely well respected beekeeper of many years. He is the author of “An Apiary Guide to Swarm Control” which is seen by many as the definitive swarm control manual. He will be talking to us about the pros and cons of swarm control.
